Home Window Tinting Installation in Atherton, California

American Window Film did a home window tinting installation in Atherton, California! This home has a lot of glass throughout it to emphasize the beautiful landscape and views it offers! With that being said, the homeowner had a few problematic rooms in the house that were so hot, they were unbearable to be in. The homeowner designed the house to have a lot of glass so that they could utilize and enjoy the views outside. They didn’t want to lose their views by installing blinds or shades but were looking for a way to reduce heat to the rooms that had full sun exposure. After doing research online, the homeowner came across window film as a potential heat reducing solution and decided to look up companies near them. American Window Film has a San Francisco location that came up in their searches so they checked out our website! On our website, they learned about solar film for homes and how it helps reduce heat, reduce glare, and protect against sun fading. The homeowner decided to reach out to American Window Film to request a free consultation to learn more about solar film and see if it would be a good solution for their home!

American Window Film's Goals

American Window Film’s goals for this project were simple: educate the customer on window film and the benefits it can provide and help find a solution to their heat problem. Our sales representative in our San Francisco location met the customer at the home to talk with the homeowner and take a look at the windows in question. As soon as our sales representative saw the windows, he could instantly see what they were talking about. The windows in the sunroom, front room, and daughter’s room were fully exposed to the sun at all points during the day. The sunroom and the front room were designed to have as much glass as possible for the natural light and overall look. The heat radiates through the glass, especially during the afternoon, making the rooms uncomfortable to even be in. The homeowner explained that heat reduction was their number one priority and they didn’t want to compromise any of their views outside or change the overall aesthetics of the house.

American Window Film's Recommendations

After meeting with the customer and learning more about what they were looking for in their window film installation, our sales representative made a few suggestions. First off, he suggested window films that weren’t going to compromise any views outside, since that was their main priority. Second, our sales representative suggested a window film that wasn’t going to drastically change the look of the home from the exterior. By choosing one of these window films, the homeowner can only install it to the sunroom, front room, and daughter’s room without having to worry that the rest of the glass was going to be odd or mismatched. One of the options our sales representative suggested was the 3M Prestige window film line. He suggested 3M Prestige window film because it checked off everything on the customer’s list. It isn’t going to hinder any views outside, it won’t change the aesthetics of the home, and it’s an extreme heat reducing window film line.

What the Customer Chose

After talking with our sales representative and learning about all of the different options they have, the homeowner ultimately decided to take his suggestion and go with a 3M Prestige window film. Specifically, they chose 3M Prestige 50. This home window film blocks 56% of heat, 44% of glare, and 99.9% of UVA and UVB rays. First and foremost, blocking 56% of heat significantly reduces the amount of heat that enters the home which will make it more comfortable. Not to mention, it’s going to make the home more energy-efficient and lower electricity bills. Blocking 44% of glare and 99.9% of UVA and UVB rays is a bonus that will also increase the comfortability of the home and protect items from sun fading. 3M Prestige window film has low interior reflectivity and doesn’t contain any metal, which is why views are kept intact and the overall look of the home isn’t going to change.

Results of the Window Film Installation

This installation ended up being 336 square feet of 3M Prestige window film as well as 426 french panes, which are smaller glass windows. It took a team of installers 5 days to complete. Our sales representative in our San Francisco office thought that overall, this project was a success. We were able to help the customer find a window film that helped reduce heat, still let in natural light, and didn’t compromise any of their views. In addition to 3M Prestige window film and solar film, American Window Film also services decorative window film, custom graphics, anti-graffiti film, window security film, and exterior building wraps.
