American Window Film installed decorative window film in an office in Lacey, Washington! The business owner was having a problem with a lack of privacy throughout the office. Offices, doors, and conference rooms all have a lot of glass that people can see straight through. There is no sense of privacy or confidentiality throughout the office. The customer was looking for a way to increase privacy without having to remove the glass throughout the office. In doing research online, the business owner came across decorative window film on American Window Film’s website and saw that we have an office located in Seattle, Washington. He decided to request a free consultation to see if a decorative film is a good option for increasing privacy throughout the office space!
American Window Film’s first goal for this project was to meet with the customer to get a good understanding of what exactly he is looking for the window film to accomplish. From there, our goals are to explain to the customer the different window films that are available on the market, make recommendations based on what he says he is looking for, and ultimately find the best window film option that will increase privacy throughout the office space. To accomplish these goals, our sales representative out of our Seattle office met with the customer at the business. When he met with the customer, our sales representative learned that the business owner was looking to increase privacy on a few windows and doors throughout the office. When our sales representative learned that the primary goal was to increase privacy, he started explaining the different options available to the customer. Our sales representative explained that with decorative window film, you have options like frosted window film that will completely prevent people from seeing in or out, and it doesn’t have a harsh look. Our sales representative explained that with decorative window film, you don’t have to cover the entire piece of glass, you can only install partial so you still have natural light coming in.
The business owner expressed that he liked the idea of decorative window film for the office and he likes the idea of only installing the decorative window film partially, as to not completely prevent views into the space. After meeting with the customer and hearing what they were looking for specifically, our sales representative suggested a type of decorative window film called 3M Illumina. This decorative window film controls goth light and privacy as it is optically clear on one end and fades to opaque on the other end. 3M Illumina will increase privacy without completely getting rid of natural light into the office space.
After the business owner met with our sales representative and heard about all of the different window film options that are available on the market to increase privacy, he decided to take our sales representative’s suggestion and move forward with the 3M Illumina. He felt that this window film met all of the requirements he was looking for. Since 3M Illumina is clear on one side and opaque on the other, the customer has the option to choose which side he wants at the top and bottom of the glass. The customer decided that he wanted the opaque portion of the window film to be installed at the bottom of the glass and the clear portion to be installed at the top. He felt that this would increase privacy while letting in a ton of natural light.
The business owner decided to move forward with the decorative window film on three windows and three doors throughout the office space. This installation ended up being 12 panes and 141 square feet of 3M Illumina. It took one installer six hours to complete. Overall, American Window Film feels this installation went well because we were able to help the customer find a window film that increases privacy while still letting light in. In addition to decorative window film and 3M Illumina, American Window Film also services solar film, custom graphics, anti-graffiti film, window security film, and exterior building wraps.
