Commercial Window Tinting Installation at a Building in Tacoma, Washington 

American Window Film did a commercial window tinting installation at a building in Tacoma, Washington! The business owner was having issues with privacy and security in their building. There have been a few break-ins to surrounding neighborhoods and this business owner wanted to take precautions and keep their building as safe as possible. The business owner has an existing security system in place already but was looking for other ways to add to it.

He did some research online to see other ways he could add to the existing security system to keep his building and employees as safe as possible. In his research, the business owner came across a window security film from American Window Film. He called us up to set up an appointment to meet with a sales representative to see if window security film would be a good fit for this building!

American Window Film's Goals

American Window Film’s goals for this project were to meet with the business owner at the building to learn the specific goals the customer has and help them find a window film solution. So, that’s exactly what we did. Our sales representative, Bret, met the business owner at the building to learn more details and specifics about what he was looking for. The business owner explained his concerns with the break-in in surrounding neighborhoods and how he was looking for a way to add to his existing security system. The business owner also expressed interest in increased privacy to the windows and doors to add even more safety than just the security film alone.

American Window Film's Suggestions

Since the business owner was looking to increase safety and security, our sales representative thought of window security film off the bat. Our sales representative suggested window security film because it strengthens glass by 2-3 times and prolongs forced entry time. This allows more time for help to arrive in the case of a potential break-in or intruder, which is exactly what the business owner was looking for. Not only does security window film protect against invasions, but it also protects against natural disasters which is a huge benefit. After hearing Bret talk about window security film, the business owner thought that would be a great fit for the windows and doors in the building that he had an extreme concern with security.

The business owner went on to explain to our sales representative that for a select few windows where he was less concerned with people breaking in, and more concerned with privacy. The customer explained there are a few windows in the building he would like increased privacy during the day, with the ability to still see out of the glass. It was important for the business owner to still have visibility out of the windows because he didn't want his employees to work in a place that didn’t have any natural light or where they couldn’t look out the window.

After learning what the business owner was looking for specifically, our sales representative went on to make his suggestions and show the customer different privacy window films that matched the description of what he was looking for. Our sales representative had two suggestions for this project. He first suggested a 3M window security film for the windows and doors the customer was most concerned with a potential break-in. He also suggested a Madico window film called Optivision 15, which is a dark solar film. He suggested this window film for the windows and doors that the business owner was concerned with privacy.

What the Customer Chose

After learning all about the different window film options he has and speaking with Bret, the customer decided to take Bret’s suggestions and have both the window security film and the solar film installed to the windows and doors throughout the building. The customer decided to have Madico Optivision 15 installed to doors and windows throughout the building to help with the privacy issue and prevent people outside from being able to see into the building. The business owner decided to have a 3M window security film called 3M S800 installed to the areas of major concern to help increase safety and protect against potential break-ins.

Seeing as Optivision 15 is a dark solar film, it’s going to make it more difficult for people walking by to see into the building, which ultimately increases privacy. This solar film still allows people inside the ability to see outside, which is what the building owner wanted. In addition to increasing privacy, Madico Optivision 15 also blocks 75% of heat, 84% of glare, and 90%infrared rejection, which is a huge benefit! Not only is privacy being increased, but the building is also going to be cooler and more comfortable! 

3M S80 is a type of window security film. This security film is going to strengthen the glass by 2-3 times and prolong forced entry time in case of an intruder. This significantly increases safety as it allows more time for help to arrive. In addition to protecting against break-ins and intruders, security window film also protects against natural disasters like high winds and earthquakes as it holds shattered glass together. The security window film was installed with the silicone attachment, which increases the strength even more.

Results of the Window Film Installation

This installation ended up being 158 total square footage of window film installation and took our installation crew 3.5 hours to complete! We asked Bret, our sales representative who worked on this project what his overall thoughts were. Bret said, “overall, the job went well and the solar film and security film solution worked for the issues the customer was having.” That’s great news for us!
