American Window Film's Goals

American Window Film’s goal for this project was to find a window film that would reject heat and cool the home without needing to turn to the air conditioner or use blinds or shades. Our sales representative met with the customer at their home to get a little more information on the project and to take a look at the windows in question. When he met with the customer he learned that the living room was the only room in the house that was causing a lot of heat problems. This room has large floor to ceiling glass windows and doors that in a lot of heat and sunlight. The living room is also the main gathering point of the home because of the beautiful views outside. The customer told our sales representative that they didn’t want to turn the air conditioning on to try and cool down only one room in the home. They also didn’t want to cover up the glass and lose the natural sunlight and views of outside.

What American Window Film Suggested

After meeting with the customer and learning the more specific details about the project, our sales representative showed the customer different window film samples he thought would be a good fit for their home and for what they are looking for. Since the customer’s main priority was to reduce heat, our sales representative showed them different solar film samples. Solar film reduces maximum heat and glare and works great for both residential and commercial settings. Since the customer wanted to reduce heat without compromising their views and was only interested in installing window film to one room in the house, our sales representative showed samples of window film that wouldn’t drastically change the look of the home. Our sales representative suggested a few different things, one of which was the 3M Prestige window film line. He suggested this window film line because they all provide substantial heat rejection and aren’t going to change the look of the home. From there, our sales representative showed the customer samples of the different window films in the 3M Prestige line so the customer could hold them up to their glass and get an idea of what it would look like.

What the Customer Chose

After meeting with our sales representative, learning about the different solar film options, and hearing his suggestions, the customer decided to go with the 3M Prestige window film line! They specifically chose 3M Prestige 70. This window film provides substantial heat rejection, energy savings, and increased comfort. It blocks 50% of heat, 23% of glare, and blocks 99.9% of ultraviolet rays. Blocking 50% of heat is going to increase comfort in the living room, without having to turn on the air conditioning or install blinds/shades. These ultraviolet rays are the leading cause of sun fading, so the customer can have peace of mind knowing that the lifespan of their furniture, floors, and valuable belongings are being extended. This 3M Prestige window film has low reflection, which is why it isn’t going to drastically change the look of the home and the homeowner can easily install it in one room without having to worry the aesthetics of the home are going to look off.

Results of the Window Film Installation

The customer felt this 3M Prestige window film was the perfect fit and decided to have it installed on all of the glass in the living room. This installation ended up being 156 square feet and took 4 hours to complete.
