American Window Film installed a 3M Prestige window film to a home in Pebble Beach, California! This homeowner has other properties located in the bay area and American Window Film was lucky enough to do the window film installation to those in the past as well. Since we have built a relationship with this customer, she decided to use us for this new property! In the past, the homeowner installed window film to her properties to help with heat, glare, and sun fading, and this new property was no different. When the homeowner bought this property there was an existing window film that she didn’t like. She didn’t like the shade of the window film and she didn’t think it was high enough performing. The homeowner decided to call up American Window Film to have a new window installed to the entire home!
American Window Film’s goals for this project were simple. Meet with the customer to find out what they were looking for exactly and then to help them find a window film solution for their home. So, that’s exactly what we did! Our sales representative, Gregg, met the customer at the property to take a look at the windows and learn what she was looking for exactly. When he got to the home he looked at the existing window film and explained to the homeowner that we could easily remove the existing window film from all the glass, without damaging it, and replace it with a fresh new window film.
From there he and the homeowner talked about what her vision was for this home. She explained that she likes the window film she has used in her past properties and is interested in installing the same window film to this property. Gregg showed the homeowner a sample of the window film she has used in the past so she could hold it up to these windows. He explained the benefits of this window film and took exact measurements of all the windows in the home.
Since the customer was looking for a high performing window film that will help reduce heat and reduce glare, our sales representative automatically thought of a solar film. Since the homeowner has used the same window film on her past project and liked it, he initially suggested the customer install the 3M Prestige window film she has used in the past. He suggested this window film because the customer has been happy with the performance in the past and she likes the way it looks.
The homeowner likes the fact that the 3M Prestige window film used in the past doesn’t aesthetically change the look of the home. She is happy with the amount of heat and glare it provides which Gregg thought it would be a good fit for this installation also. He did also show the customer other solar film options that might be a good fit to ensure she knows what her options are before making the decision.
The customer went with Gregg’s suggestion and decided to go with the 3M Prestige window film she has used in the past. She ultimately decided to go with this product because she has been so happy with it in the past. The window film product she is having installed is 3M Prestige 60. This window film contains no metal, which is why it isn’t going to change the look of the home aesthetically. It has low reflectivity so people inside the home will still fully be able to see out and people outside the home will still be able to see inside.
This 3M Prestige window film blocks 53% of heat, 32% of glare, and 99% of UVA and UVB rays. Blocking 53% of heat from entering the home will make it noticeably cooler, which will enhance comfort within the home. This Prestige window film will even provide energy savings and make the home more energy efficient. Reducing 53% of glare will also enhance comfort by getting rid of the annoying glare that bounces off of TV and computer screens. Finally, blocking 99% of UVA and UVB rays will enhance the lifespan of their furniture and flooring as these ultraviolet rays are the leading cause of sun fading.
The homeowner decided to have this 3M Prestige window film installed to glass throughout the entire home. This project turned out to be a larger one. It ended up being 431 square feet of window film removal, 659 square feet of new window film installation, and 184 french panes. French panes are the small squares of glass you see typically in an interior or exterior door. French panes take longer to install than a standard window due to their size, which is why it’s important to keep in mind when planning out how long an installation is going to take. This installation ended up taking a team of three installers four full days to complete. Overall, this installation was a success!
Our installation crew was able to remove all of the existing window film without scratching or damaging any of the glass and replace it with the 3M Prestige window film. The homeowner was pleased with the outcome of the installation as she was able to remove the existing window film she didn’t like and replace it with a higher-performing window film she knows she likes. Not to mention the home is going to be cooler, more comfortable, and energy efficient. A win-win situation for everyone! In addition to 3M Prestige window film and solar film, American Window Film also services decorative window film, anti graffiti film, security window film, custom graphics, and exterior building wraps.
