American Window Film’s goals for this project was to help the business owner find a heat rejecting window film that would make their office more comfortable for the people working there. Our sales representative met the customer at the building to take a look at the glass, take exact measurements, and show the customer different window film samples that they could choose from. Our sales representative started by learning as much detail about the project as possible from the business owner to make appropriate suggestions for the installation.

The business owner explained that the individual offices each have 2-3 large pieces of glass and it’s very uncomfortable between the hours of 10-2 pm. American Window Film sees this problem a lot in offices. The afternoon sun shines through the windows and causes issues with not only heat but glare as well. The business owner talked about how he has received multiple complaints from his employees that they are hot and uncomfortable while sitting at their desks during these hours, even with the blinds drawn. The building owner’s main goal was to reduce the maximum amount of heat in the office without blocking views outside.

American Window Film's Suggestions

After our sales representative heard the details and learned specifically about what the customer was looking for our sales representative thought a solar film would be the best solution. Our sales representative suggested Llumar Air 80 and 3M Prestige 70 as potential options for the customer. He chose these two products because they are both very light films that aren’t going to change the appearance of the glass, but they also offer maximum heat rejection. He explained the different benefits of each of the solar films to the customer as well as showed him both samples so he could see what they look like.

What the Customer Chose

The customer decided to take one of our sales’ representatives suggestions and go with the 3M Prestige 70 for their building because it’s a high performing solar film. 3M Prestige 70 provides high visible light transmissions, which means the views outside aren’t going to be compromised at all. Employees will be able to see outside without needing blinds drawn. 3M Prestige 70 blocks 38% of heat, 22% of glare, and 99% of UVA and UVB rays.

Blocking 38% of heat from entering the office building is going to make the office noticeably cooler and more comfortable, especially during those hot afternoon hours. Blocking 22% of glare is going to prevent glare from reflecting off TV and computer screens, which ultimately increases productivity. UVA and UVB rays are the leading cause of sun fading, so by blocking 99% of them the business owner is prolonging the lifespan of furniture and belongings.

Results of the Window Film Installation

The customer decided to install 3M Prestige 70 to the windows that were causing the most problems in the office. This installation ended up being 700 square feet of 3M Prestige 70 and it took a team of two installers 8 hours to complete.
