2022-23 California State Nonprofit Security Grant Program (CSNSGP)

Award Period: January 1, 2023 to December 31, 2024

Amount: $47,500,000

Purpose: The purpose of the CSNSGP is to provide funding support for target hardening and other physical security enhancements to nonprofit organizations that are at high risk for violent attacks and hate crimes due to ideology, beliefs, or mission.

Eligible Nonprofit and Faith-Based Organizations:

• Churches
• Schools
• Mosques
• Temples
• Schools
• Clinics
• Community Centers

• Released to 290 community groups across the state (CA)
• Provides grants for physical security enhancements to nonprofit organizations at high risk for violent attacks
• Possible upgrades include reinforced doors, gates, shatter-proof glass and window film, security personnel

Official Rules and Documentation on Funds Allocated to California Faith-Based & Nonprofit Organizations

Up to $500,000: Maximum amount possible allocated to each organization

Under AB 1664, the Nonprofit Security Grant Program can now distribute funds to the grant recipients to use for security training. Additionally, the grant recipients may use 5% of the grant funds awarded for paying staff, third-party contractors, or consultants to assist with the management and administration of the grant funds.
